I’m not sure why the music industry believes vinyl will ever re-invigorate the music industry. Vinyl at its core is a format that is too outdated to work in today’s day and age. Not to mention vinyl presents another glaring problem. It requires special equipment to be played. In other words, this means more expense for a music fan. Something that is not a positive.
And while sure some may point to gains in the vinyl LP they forget to take into account that a lot of this is due to people that might have always loved this particular format and also a small percentage that are only into fad trends and on seeing this vinyl “collectible” appeal have jumped on board out of nowhere. Therefore making all this a fad and nowhere near as sustainable, as I would hope the music industry would want.
